At Last

November 20, 2015

2015 has brought so many changes. Some were hard, like the passing of my sweet Papa Terry. And other changes were good, like me leaving my corporate design job. While I loved my job, I felt free when I left. Free to do my own thing and feel really inspired again. People ask me if I miss my job, and to be honest, I don’t. I only miss the people. I am so grateful for my time there, but am so happy for the new chapter I am in.

It’s liberating.

With leaving my job, came the biggest change, working full time for my own label Cove. At last, I am doing my own thing and I couldn’t be happier. I think that is why I started this blog, so that I could share my journey of going after my own label. And while it’s happening, trust me, there is so much to learn and be worked out. It’s hard work taking chances. But as Will Smith said, “Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity.” If you don’t take chances, things don’t ever really improve. I am all for going for it, and with Cove, I know it’s going to be worth it. Cove couldn’t be a more perfect fit for me. It’s all I know in life wrapped into one pretty package.

I have only talked about Cove on my blog once here (crazy cause it takes up most all my time). So for those of you who don’t know, Cove is a dancewear line for the Guys & Gals designed by yours truly! I have been working on Cove ever since I graduated from FIT. It’s been a long time in the making. And now it is here. Everything in life has lead me to Cove. As most of you know, I grew up dancing my entire life & even danced professionally full time in LA for a few years after high school. But knowing that I wanted a career with more structure, I followed my passion for design and went to FIT where I graduated with my degree in Fashion Design. Now, through Cove, I am combining my two worlds of dance and fashion into one. It is the perfect fit. At last, it is my everything.

I never planned to do a dancewear line in my life. It kind of happened naturally and found me really. God, like always, showed me what he really had planned and it’s everything I never knew I wanted. Funny how life works like that sometimes. You can see the entire collection on covewear.com. And even if you’re not a “dancer” this is activewear too! So knock yourself out with cute work out clothes! The Muscle Tee is one of my favorites for the gym! But the Mesh Leotard is my ultimate favorite! I even wear it to the gym and pool! That’s right, it can be worn to swim in! Win win.

You guys, my apartment doesn’t even look like this anymore! These photos were taken so long ago!

So that is my long catch up of some changes 2015 brought me. Through the ups and downs, it has been a great year. One I will always remember. If you want to follow Cove, check out our new Blog here! I am sure it is where I will be blogging more, so be sure to follow along. Also, check us out on Instagram & Twitter @covewearnyc. Happy weekend everyone (aka Mom)!

These Days.

February 2, 2015

cove

It’s been a long time since I have come to this little blog of mine. I love this little space so much, but now I rarely find the time to come here. A sick day at home has finally given me the time to visit my little corner of the internet today. So hello old friends!

These days my time is filled with my regular job at Tommy Hilfiger. I am still designing menswear for Tommy and I really love it. When I am not at Tommy, I spend almost every free minute working on my new dancewear brand, Cove. I am pouring my heart and soul into Cove and I cannot wait for it to be up and running! It is so much work. Some days I am just so exhausted, and running around the garment district is the last thing I want to do after a full day of work. But then when I have fittings with our models, and see the product come to life, that’s when it hits me just how fun my job really is. It is the greatest feeling in the world to see your vision come to life.

Cove

I feel so blessed to be living out my dreams and using my talents to make a living. God is so good. My Grandfather always told me to do what you love and know best and you will never have to work a day in your life. I truly feel like that with my jobs. With Cove I am bringing together my two worlds, dance and fashion. The two things I have spent most my time on (especially dance). And it is so fun to bring it all together in one job.

Cove

I hope to be around here more. I haven’t felt really inspired to blog lately because I really am trying to figure out what I love blogging most about. Really this blog is a journal for the journey of chasing my dreams as a designer. And I hope my journey will inspire others to chase their own dreams. I think some where along the line I lost that vision and tried to make this blog fit the mold of what everyone else was doing. I no longer will be doing that. I hope this place can be a space you come to for inspiration. Whether that be to chase your own dreams, design inspiration, or life in general. I will figure it out eventually, or maybe not, it’s all good! Have an amazing week!

Cove Dancewear

June 16, 2014

Today I am happy to announce my newest venture, Cove Dancewear. As many of you know, before I was a fashion designer at Tommy Hilfiger, I was a professional dancer in LA. I have decided to combine my two worlds of dance and fashion into one through Cove Dancewear! And I couldn’t be more excited! Cove will be an elevated dancewear brand for both the guys and gals. Being a dancer myself, I will be able to design my clothes to have the perfect fit that will make the dancer feel not only comfortable but stylish. To help me make this dream come true, I have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise money to get Cove off the ground. Here is a video to learn more about how you can be apart of making Cove a reality and help with the design process…

Here is a sneak peek at the collection…

Thank you to everyone who is helping me make this dream come true. Words cannot express my gratitude enough. We have 16 days left to reach our goal of $20,000 and really need your help to reach it! It’s an all or nothing deal on Kickstarter, so if we don’t reach $20,000 we won’t get anything. Every little bit helps, even a dollar. You can donate to Cove’s kickstater campaign here! Even if you can’t donate, please help spread the word of Cove! Everything helps!

Be sure to stay up to date with us on our Twitter and Instagram @covewearnyc! Thanks everyone! xoxo
