In a world with a lot of corruption, it can be hard to believe in love. But I am here to tell you real love exist. I know because I am blessed to have it. After seeing the movie, Hope Springs, this weekend (so good, go see it!) I found myself reflecting on love and marriage. You can see how easy it is for two married people to get into a rut with their marriage, they simply stop trying. And after years and years of not trying, so much hurt is built up. In this movie the couple had been married for over 30 years, slept in different rooms and hadn’t touched each other in years. So how do you prevent this or maintain the love you have? Here are my thoughts…
I think daily hand holding goes a long way.
Saying I love you more times than you can count.
Keeping in touch through out the day with phone calls or text messages.
Sitting down to dinner together at night.
Weekly dates, something different every once in a while too!
Dancing. Yes, dancing. The hubs and I slow dance in our little apartment all the time.
Tickle fights. Or a fun flirty way to touch each other!
Weekly “deep talks” where you talk about your beliefs on life, etc. These are my favorite.
Sunday naps, just holding each other can rejuvenate you!
And above all service. If you think about how you can serve your spouse before you think about yourself, then it will be a happy relationship. If each of you puts each others needs before their own, harmony and love will exist. Ask your love what you can do for them today to make their day better. It will go a long way!
